Riya Manoj Gautam is a three-year-old nursery student who has begun her educational journey with the support of the Diya Sponsorship. She lives with her parents and two older sisters in a rented chawl in Ghatkopar, Mumbai. Her father, Manoj, works as a painter and is the family’s sole earning member, earning ₹10,000 monthly to support a family of five. With ₹4,000 spent each month on rent and another ₹800 on water and electricity, along with the educational needs of three children, managing the family’s expenses is challenging.

Her mother, Meenadevi, is a homemaker, Pratika’s two brothers are also studying. The family lives in a rented chawl and spends ₹5,000 on rent, ₹100 on water, and ₹600 on electricity each month. With a limited income and regular household expenses, managing educational costs is difficult.

Jiya Shankar Pandhre is a 4th-standard student. Her father, Shankar, works at a petrol pump, while her mother, Shashikala, earns an income by doing Documentation work at a fire-extinguisher company. Together, they earn approximately ₹20,000 per month. The family lives in a rented chawl and spends ₹3,500 on rent, ₹100 on water, and ₹500 on electricity each month. Jiya’s father also gives ₹5,000 every month to support his mother who lives in her native village, leaving the family with limited income to manage their household and the education of both children.

Iccha Chauhan

Iccha Chauhan is a Class 9 student from a financially struggling family, where her mother is the sole earning member as her father has abandoned the family. Her mother works as a domestic helper and earns ₹20,000 per month, while also suffering from piles, making her daily work difficult. The family lives in a rented house, paying ₹7,000 in rent and around ₹1,500 for electricity, leaving very little for their basic needs. With three children—Iccha in Class 9, her younger sister in Class 7, and her brother in Class 5—the family struggles to meet household and educational expenses. They do not receive any financial support from relatives or other family members, making their situation even more difficult.
