How the Scheme Works
The Trust runs a book bank wherein around 400 students of Junior and Degree colleges receive entire set of text books free for one year against a refundable deposit of 200. When the books are returned at the end of the year, they are issued to the next batch of needy students.
When there is a change in the syllabus of HSC or Degree College, or if the books get lost or worn out due to overuse, then new set of text books are bought for the book bank. The annual cost of maintaining the book bank is around 150,000. There is also scope for expanding the reach of the book bank to a larger number of needy students.
How You Can Help
- Donors may contribute any amount they wish to the corpus fund of the book bank.
- Donors may donate second hand text books which are in good condition.
- Donors may buy one entire set of text books for a particular needy student. The cost of one set of text books for Junior college is 700 and for Degree College it is 1500.
Feedback to Donors
- Donors will receive letter of thanks and a receipt for their financial contribution with 80-G certificate for tax benefit.
- Donor who contributed for one set of text books for a particular student will receive the details of the student and the books that she has received.

Shweta and her 6 family members live in a single room in a slum. Her father who works as a security guard couldn't finance her education. Shweta worked as a data entry operator to pay for her studies but most of her income went to support her family. Nehal Gada's father has expired and she lives with her mother and brother in a 10x10 room in Asalfa village, a large slum area in Mumbai. Nehal worked as a salesgirl to support her studies and completed her B.Com with help from LBW scholarship. She is now working as an accountant, earning well and helping her family.
